Diabetes mellitus is a common disorder among terminally ill patients. As in palliative care in general, so among diabetics at the end-stage diseases, the priority is to improve or maintain quality of life of our patients. They usually have short prognosis so appropriate clinical decision should be taken according to the changing conditions. Situation is quite different if the patient is expected to live for weeks/months or is in his last hours/days. Hospice team has to focus on patient comfort not only by preventing hypo- or hyperglycaemia, but also by avoiding some unnecessary procedures and side-effects.
