Amyloidoses are a group of diseases characterised by extracellular deposition of proteins in characteristic amyloid fibrils. AA amyloidosis is a serious complication of rheumatoid diseases and results in early death from organ failure. As more becomes known about its pathogenesis and treatment, new opportunities will be available to prevent and modify its clinical significance
