Analysis of breech presentation deliveries was undertaken in five years periods (1950–1954, 1970–1974, 1990–1994) concentrating on the mode of delivery, which is a very important and discussed obstetric problem. It was stated hat during the ears, the use of oxytocin and episiotomies became a routine procedure. Within 40 years the delivery time shortened significantly, especially in case of primigravids (10 hours and 33 minutes shorter). The caesarian section rate in cases of
breech presentation in the 90’s increased threefold compared to 70’s and over eleven times compared to the 50’s. Within hat time the perinatal mortality reduced from 23,1‰ to 7,6‰. In the three five analyzed periods the most often causes of perinatal mortality are still the same: prematurity and congenital defect.
