Uterine fibroids are the most common indication for major surgery in women. Surgical treatment of uterine myomata with preserved uterus has become an increasingly important procedure performed with greater frequency during recent years. Authors analysed morbidity associated with abdominal myomectomy performed in 197 women. The average age of the patients was 35.8 (ranging from, 20 to 49). There were no other intraoperative complications and no major postoperative complications. Febrile morbidity occurred in 55 (27.9%) patients. Postoperative blood transfusion occurred in 10 cases (5.07%).
