Carcinoids are rarely occurring neuroendocrinological neoplasms. Their incidence is about 1-2 cases per 100 thousand per year and varies according to age, sex, and even race. In various authors’ opinion, absolutely asymptomatic growth of the tumours takes place in 40-60% of the sufferers. The aim of the study was to present a case of carcinoid identified inside an appendix vermiformis in a 29-year old woman. The lesion did not reveal any clinical symptoms and at the moment of admission to the hospital manifested only symptoms indicative of acute appendicitis. The authors emphasise the great importance of diagnostic investigations, with particular emphasis on postoperative histopathological examination in carcinoid tumours identification. In the study mentioned above, on the basis of the histological examinations the type of tumour was diagnosed and the videoscopic method was used for repeated radical operation, after primary laparoscopic appendectomy.
