Chronic pelvic pain is a serious problem for gynaecology, referring to a large population of women, with our knowledge and therapeutic efficacy of modern medicine inadequate. The chronic pelvic pain incidence in the United States reaches the 2–10 proc. level among outpatients, being the indication for about 1/5 of laparoscopies. Aetiology of the pain is multiple, including both somatic (e.g. endometriosis) and non-somatic conditions (among others gastrointestinal disorders, psychological factors). Its influence on quality of life, life-style and productivity of women testify to the importance of this issue in health care of women.
