Cylindromas (also known as turban tumours in
Brooke-Spiegler syndrome) are extremely rare, benign cutaneous
neoplasms. They most commonly occur in the head and neck region. To
date, only a very limited number of cases have been reported in
the literature. This paper presents the case of a 69-year-old
female patient with a tumour located in the left preauricular
area, which was histopathologically diagnosed as a cylindroma or
a mixed tumour with features of both cylindroma and eccrine
spiradenoma. This case is noteworthy due to the rarity of this tumour
type and the considerable/large size of the lesion. Complete surgical
excision – currently the most common therapeutic approach – was
employed in this case, and the patient was referred for continued
regular follow-up by an otolaryngologist.
