Allergic rhinitis is an inflammatory process, most frequently IgE-dependent, and caused by the influence of environmental allergens. The main symptoms, lasting more than an hour a day for at least 2 consecutive days, are nasal discharge, catarrh, nasal itching, sneezing and paroxysmal nasal congestion. The most common types are seasonal and perennial, as well as intermittent and persistent with mild, moderate, or severe course. Allergic rhinitis is the most common allergic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract. It occurs in 15-25% of the population of children and adults in Poland, and on a similar scale as intermittent rhinitis and persistent rhinitis. The most common allergens causing rhinitis are mites and anemophilous pollens.
