The COVID-19 pandemic is not going away. Although we’ve had periods of easing the restrictions, we are still concerned about the consequences of the increasing number of infections. Unfortunately, inadequate medical education among society means that still too few people have been vaccinated, and we do not have much hope for an immediate disappearance of the disease.
The “Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques” editorial office, however, continues to work intensively on the development of the journal. We encourage everyone to cooperate, especially in the fields of laparoscopic surgery and endoscopy. We especially encourage you to submit meta-analyses on various surgical problems that are treated in a special way by our editorial board.
In this issue, as always, you will find a series of interesting papers on minimally invasive surgery. There are as many as 4 meta-analyses and reviews dealing with various surgical problems, and original papers on negative pressure therapy and UGI surgery. Urologists should be pleased to find 3 topics related to the problems of their specialty.
For the upcoming Christmas season and the end of the year, I wish everyone peace and rest from everyday hard work, and many meetings with the family and among friends. Let this time be a period of reflection and preparation for many new inspirations in the upcoming year 2022, hopefully free of COVID-19!
I look forward to seeing you at meetings and conferences in 2022! I also look forward to our collaboration through “Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques”.

Kind regards,
Prof. Jacek Szeliga
