The Internet (Web, WWW) is an excellent communication medium and a tool which is useful in obtaining information and improving knowledge. The Internet is an example of an innovative use of computerization for women health improvement.
The questionnaire research was carried out in the group of 118 women under the age of 45 (13–45), who were the patients in the Department of Mother’s and Child’s Health. The average age of patients was 27 ±7 years. Making use of the Internet as a source of knowledge in the field of gynecology and obstetrics concerns only 21% of the respondents. The frequency and desire to make use of the Internet depends on education mainly, but also on the size of the place where surveyed women live. The obvious obstacle in the process of women using medical information on the Internet is the lack of access to it. Although access to the Internet is not widespread, 59% of surveyed women positively evaluates the utility value of the electronic-mail and WWW to contact a doctor. But in fact, women's magazines remain the main source of information.
