Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a chronic disease of the upper respiratory tract with a benign proliferative nature and the main goal of treatment is to try to eradicate papillomas while maintaining the proper structure and function of the organ, i.e. free-breathing, swallowing, and good voice quality. We present a case that shows that even one, too aggressive surgical eradication of RRP performed in many anatomical regions of the larynx may leave a significant organ dysfunction. The task for the next few years is a gentle local treatment, supplemented with drugs that suppress the progression of RRP and the simultaneous use of techniques that restore glottic functions. Based on the case presented below, we want to discuss three key issues: 1) complications of surgical treatment, which remains the method of choice in the treatment of RRP, 2) possibilities of preventing complications and restoring the function of the larynx in cases of scars and adhesions, and 3) the latest methods of treating RRP.
