INTRODUCTION

16th International Conference of Contemporary Oncology combines through a hybrid formula the return of the live meeting with technology. The motto of the conference is “New strategies, new technologies, new horizons in oncology”. Both the formula and the substantive content indicate the accelerated development of science - basic research, as well as the practice /immunooncology with the use of increasingly advanced technologies. New strategies, innovations, the search for the best solutions are present in both basic research: molecular biology, genetics and therapies, breaking down barriers, finding new drugs and finding more effective forms of cancer treatment and prevention. We encourage you to share the latest research, industrial and clinical developments. This year's conference takes place in a special semester for Poland - the presidency of the Council of the European Union - during which issues of health security in the broadest sense will be addressed. There will also be another evaluation of the European Union's European Cancer Plan, which is being implemented in 2025, enabling a whole spectrum of activities: research, prevention, treatment, systems, and is part of the developing European Health Union. What is more, this year is important because of the emerging new strategic guidelines and the EU's multi-annual budget.

The conference therefore provides a forum for exchange, discussion and inspiration for researchers, clinicians and policy-makers proposing solutions based on research findings. As part of this year’s International Conference of Contemporary Oncology, we invite you to join a workshop entitled "Together for Oncology Innovation: From Lab to Clinic" focused on fostering effective collaboration between scientists conducting basic research and clinicians. It is organized and moderated by the Polish Association of University Knowledge Transfer Companies and the Polish Association of Centers for Technology Transfer.

The results of the work presented at the conference will be published in our journal “Contemporary Oncology/Contemporary Oncology” (WO).
WO was established by Andrzej Mackiewicz and Termedia publishing house in 1997, with Prof. Jacek Mackiewicz joining over time. In 2017, the team in charge of the quality of the journal was boosted by Prof. Piotr Czapiewski and his colleagues: Prof. Christoph Garbers and Dr. Bartlomiej Tomasik.
Prof. Czapiewski's team is now the main driving machine of the journal both inside and outside the country.

Currently, Termedia's team of specialists, together with the Editorial Board, functions admirably in ensuring the highest quality of the journal, in line with international standards. To date, 180 issues of WO have been published, initially in Polish and since 2012 in English. WO is inextricably linked to the development of the TERMEDIA publishing house. However, the history of the journal has had better and “worse” moments, currently we hope to continue the better ones.

Thus, we are already inviting authors/presenters to submit manuscripts for publication in a special issue of WO.
Let us encourage you to do so:
- WO's Impact Factor is 2.9
- WO is indexed in SCOPUS
- WO is indexed in PubMed
- The MNiSW score is 70 points (we are requesting more).
