Location of pain control and coping strategies with chronic pain by patients treated for lung cancer and colorectal cancer

Chronic pain is one of most frequently occurring symptoms in various diseases, also the oncological disease. The aim of the study was to evaluate the strategies used to cope with pain, depending on the location of pain control, taking into account the subjective assessment of pain. The study used: BPCQ – The Beliefs about Pain Control Questionnaire, CSQ – The Pain Coping Strategies Questionnaire and VAS – Visual Analog Scale. Examined 109 adults treated for cancer. The study show that four types of beliefs about the location of pain control using cluster analysis. Respondents patients differed from each other in the application of two strategies to cope with pain: ignoring sensations and declare cope.
