Borreliosis is the most frequent tick-borne infectious disease in Europe. The discovery of the causative pathogen Borrelia burgdorferi opened the way for the firm diagnosis of diseases in several clinical disciplines. Lyme borreliosis is a multisystem disease. The symptomatology of borreliosis is rich and various and when involves the nervous system is termed neuroborreliosis. Infection causes the classically described triad of meningitis, radiculoneuritis, and cranial neuritis; however, virtually every known neurologic disorder has been blamed on this infection. For most multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease. Difficulties in making correct diagnosis can result from the long time lag between tick bite and the occurrence of neurological, rheumatological or cardiological symptoms.
