The aim of the study was to present problems connected with foot deformations in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using modern methods in diagnosis and therapy. Pathological changes of the anatomical structures of feet, which are a result of the inflammatory process, lead to impaired motor function of the lower extremities. Disorders in static foot function are the most common cause of disability and worsening of quality of life in RA patients. The podoscopic examination is one of the most effective diagnostic methods which helps to evaluate static foot function and is useful in the process of planning the therapeutic intervention. The current treatment strategy is based on early, interdisciplinary therapy consisting of education, physiotherapy, orthopedic equipment and surgical treatment.
