Introduction: Linear IgA bulluos dermatosis is a rare autoimmunological, blistering skin disease. Aim: Analysis of heterogeneity of clinical features of linear IgA bullous dermatosis. Material and methods: Analysis of clinical features of 22 cases of LABD diagnosed in the Laboratory of Immunodermatology and Serology in the Dermatology Department of Medical University of Gdańsk in the years 1992-2004. Results: Clinical symptoms before the diagnosis suggested: dermatitis herpetiformis (5 cases), pemphigus (5), pemphigoid (4), smallpox (3), erythema multiforme (1), drug eruption (1), pruritis senilis (1), pyoderma gangrenosum (1), herpetiformis inflammation of mucous membranes (1) and bacterial conjunctivitis (1). Mucous membrane involvement has been reported in 6 cases, conjunctiva in 1. Conclusions: LABD is characterized by a heterogeneous clinical picture suggesting dermatitis herpetiformis, pemphigus and pemphigoid. In many cases symptoms do not suggest blistering diseases.
