Parents co-suffering with their children: brief unprofessional deliberations

The secret and phenomenon of suffering is the ability to empathize with the suffering person. In the context of the child’s severe illness and a suffering child, a mother and a father who have to face the suffering of a child, co-suffering touches them deeply. Illness of a child is an experience of the whole family and a serious threat to its proper functioning. A major threat to the proper relationship of parents is an overload of long-term care and responsibility. Medical personnel should support parents during the struggle with the child’s illness to use their resources to reduce overburden and negative emotional states.
