Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory skin
disease, with one of its incidence peaks occurring during the
reproductive years, including pregnant women. Immunological and
hormonal changes during pregnancy may influence the course of
psoriasis, leading to improvement, worsening, or no change in disease
activity. Conversely, psoriasis itself may affect pregnancy and fetal
outcomes.
Management
of psoriasis during pregnancy requires special consideration, as
several commonly used systemic therapies are contraindicated. This
review summarizes current evidence regarding the course of psoriasis
during pregnancy, associated maternal and fetal outcomes, and
therapeutic management. The aim is to support clinicians in
optimizing disease control while minimizing risks to both the mother
and the fetus and maintaining quality of life.
