Pulmonary embolism in a 50-year-old male patient with COPD – a case report

The case of a 50-year-old man suffering from COPD with coexistence of pulmonary embolism difficult to diagnose is described. The diagnosis was established after using a variety of specialist diagnostic procedures. On the basis of the presented clinical case a discussion about pulmonary embolism diagnostics and its difficulties is undertaken. Attention is paid to algorithms to assess clinical probability of pulmonary embolism in individual cases.
