Kuppermaenn’s test was applied to evaluate menopausal signs in 71 women in their early postmenopausal period, who were divided into three groups depending on doses of used drugs. Group I, control, consisted of 23 women, age 49.5±4.7, taking 2 placebo pills twice a day in the morning and in the evening. Group II consisted of 26 women, aged 50.8±3.7, taking one Soyfem pill twice a day and one placebo pill twice a day. Group III consisted of 22 women, aged 50.8±2.5 taking two Soyfem pills twice a day.
The women’s menopausal signs were evaluated by means of Kuppermann’s test at the beginning of the research program and every 30 days during 6 consecutive months of Soyfem therapy.
After the 3rd month of the therapy certain menopausal signs: hotness blow, excessive sweatiness, depression feelings, tiredness and vertigo decreased.
After 6 months of Soyfem therapy the frequency and intensity of most menopausal signs decreased. By means of ultrasound the evaluation of mammal breast and urine – sexual system was made before and after 6 months’ therapy. It showed insignificant decrease in mastophaty and mammal cysts size. The concentration of gonadotropin, total testosterone, sex hormones, carrier protein, sulfuric of dehydroepiandrosteron and prolactin in the women’s serum at the beginning and after 3 months’ therapy wasn’t different in comparison with the control group.
The range of Soyfem doses used in the program did not have a significant influence on the frequency and intensity of menopausal signs and on the results of biophysical and biochemical tests.
