This article presents current data from international literature on the impact of tolvaptan on autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). The authors have reviewed the latest clinical research literature. Additionally, the paper discusses the molecular biology of ADPKD and the effects of tolvaptan use on liver and kidney function, and presents the treatment of the described disease in adults and children. Complications of tolvaptan treatment are also briefly discussed.
