Introduction. RCAS1/EBAG9 plays a role in tumor escape from host immune surveillance and participates in creating maternal immune tolerance during pregnancy.
Materials and methods. The RCAS1 relative amount in tissue samples derived from placentas after vaginal labors and cesarean sections was examined by Western blot method.
Results. The RCAS1 expression was confirmed in all examined placenta tissue samples. The statistically significantly higher amount of RCAS1 was found in placentas after induced labors.
Conclusions. The RCAS1 expression in examined placenta tissue samples may indicate its role in maternal immune tolerance during the third trimester of gestation.
