Objectives
As the global population continues to age, addressing age-related diseases, particularly neurodegenerative conditions, presents significant challenges. Senotherapy, an emerging field in pharmacology, seeks to tackle these issues.

Literature review
Senotherapy involves the use of compounds that target senescent cells, which contribute to ageing and age-related pathologies. The two primary approaches in senotherapy are senolytics, which eliminate senescent cells from the body, and senomorphics, which inhibit the harmful effects of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). This paper explores the therapeutic potential of various classes of senotherapeutics in enhancing the structure and function of the nervous system in conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Conclusions
Senotherapeutic strategies for addressing neurodegeneration show great promise. However, further research is required to improve the efficacy of these strategies, particularly within the framework of personalised medicine. Combining senotherapeutics with conventional therapies should also be considered in order to address age-related neurological dysfunction.
