Intravenous thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) for acute ischaemic stroke has been proved to be effective when given within 3 h of onset of stroke symptoms. Unfortunately, partly due to this time limit, fewer than 10% of stroke patients can be treated with tPA. The positive results of the newest study assessing the potential for increased tPA utilization with a theoretical time limit of 6 hours could be a huge chance for people with acute stroke. We would like to present the newest results and new methods of treatment recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) for acute ischaemic stroke.
