title="Original articleRegular physical activity and its influence on alanine amino transferase, aspartate amino transferase activity and selected biochemical parameters in obese women with metabolic syndrome",
abstract=" Introduction: The potential clinical role of slightly increased liver amino transferases has recently been of special interest. Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of regular physical activity on alanine amino transferase and aspartate amino transferase activity and selected biochemical parameters in obese women with metabolic syndrome. Material and methods: Twenty obese women with metabolic syndrome were qualified. All of them underwent a 6-month physical activity programme under the observation of a physiotherapist. Before and after the programme alanine amino transferase, aspartate amino transferase activity, lipid profile, fasting glucose level and C-reactive protein concentration were assessed. Results: After 6 months of the physical therapy programme a decrease in triglycerides, HDL cholesterol concentration and waist circumference was observed. A tendency to decrease in C-reactive protein was found. Alanine amino transferase and aspartate amino transferase activity decreased significantly. Conclusions: 1. Regular physical activity in obese women with metabolic syndrome favourably modifies the lipid profile. 2. Physical activity decreases the low-grade inflammatory process observed in metabolic syndrome. 3. Regular physical activity in obese women with metabolic syndrome favourably influences liver function. 4. Decrease in alanine amino transferase and aspartate amino transferase activity may indicate a reduction of global cardiovascular risk. It needs further prospective research.",
