title="Invited reviewSmoking and male fertility: a contemporary review",
abstract="The turn of the past century has witnessed a remarkable increase in public awareness of the potential hazards of many environmental factors to general health. Extensive research efforts have focused on the effect of smoking on male reproduction. Smoking has been proved to cause deleterious effects on male fertility at various levels, starting from the early stages of spermatogenesis to the post-natal period. We review the current literature on these adverse effects on male fecundity extending our focus beyond the basic semen analysis to sperm DNA damage and the implications of this damage on pregnancy outcomes.",
