title="Review articleMagnetic seizures \– a new therapy of depression or only one of many techniques for eliciting seizure activity?",
abstract="Magnetic seizures are a new studied in period of last decade physical method, which uses the transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to intentional and reproductive evoking of the paroxysmal EEG activity. Seizures evoked by magnetic stimulation were observed in monkeys as well as in humans. Investigations showed, that side effects (mainly of cognitive nature) after magnetic seizures are lesser than these observed after electroconvulsive treatment. However the experimental investigations on antidepressant effectiveness of magnetic seizures in animal models of depression are absent. Limited clinical efficacy was confirmed in not more than three patients with depression. The results of hitherto existing investigations the authors are subjected by authors to critical analysis.",
