abstract="The need of postprandial hyperglycaemia monitoring seems to be still controversial. First of all it is necessary to answer the ques-tion if postprandial hyperglycaemia control is as evident element of diabetes management as fasting glycaemia or glycated ha-emoglobin evaluation. In the present paper numerous arguments were put forward to give reasons for postprandial hyperglycaemia monitoring rightness and usefulness in everyday medical practice. It is supported by the results of epidemiological studies as well as by the outcomes of experimental studies both confirming the key role of postprandial hyperglycaemia in atherosclerosis and macroangiopathy development.",
