abstract="More and more patients with a disease who are referred to department of surgery are treated for diabetes. An operation on a diabitic patient should be appropriately planned. The success of an operation on such a patient depends on standard procedures in the period preceding the operation, during operation and in the postoperative period. A cooperation of bouth the surgeon and anaesthetist with the diabetologist is of considerable significance in preparing and treating the patient.",
