title="Bone marrow – physiological functions and its contribution to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis",
abstract="It was recently shown that bone marrow functions not only as a primary lymphoid organ responsible for hematopoiesis, but also as a secondary lymphoid organ, where inflammatory response can be initiated. In addition, accumulating reports have indicated that bone marrow participates in the development of rheumatoid arthritis as a site of activated lymphocytes homing and proinflammatory cytokines overproduction. In the present paper, the role of bone marrow in normal (physiological) immune response is briefly described. Moreover, the results of experimental and clinical investigations that confirm the contribution of bone marrow to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis are reviewed.",
