title="Review paperImportance of the family in the course of bronchial asthma",
abstract="In contrast to the traditional biomedical model, modern medicine uses a holistic approach that examines the interaction between processes occurring at different levels of the human body as well as the body functioning in the wider ecosystem, to which a family also belongs. Studies confirm a need for comprehensive treatment of asthma, which requires a conscious commitment from a parent or guardian to the long process of therapy and rehabilitation of a sick child. The course and progress of the treatment depend not only on the quality of medical care but also on the attitude of parents who are responsible for implementing the medical recommendations, as their attitude also affects the mental state of the child. Any illness has a destructive effect on the developing child and the family. Looking after a sick child often becomes an integrating factor; however, very often it is also the cause of family disintegration.",
