title="Early postoperative mechanical gastrointestinal obstruction due to intussusception in the Peutz-Jeghers syndrome",
abstract="Early postoperative mechanical bowel obstruction is a rare disease. One of its causes is intussusception. The forehead of intussusception may constitute different pathological lesions within the colon, among others polyps. Among polyposis syndrome Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) should be mentioned. The disease is genetically determined and characterized by the presence of hamartomatous polyposis in the gastrointestinal tract. These hamartomatous polyposis syndromes have a malignant potential for the development of colorectal cancer. They also may be the cause of mechanical obstruction or gastrointestinal tract bleeding. We would like to present a case of a 22-year-old man operated twice in three days (the reason for the second surgical intervention was early postoperative mechanical gastrointestinal obstruction). In both cases, the obstruction was caused by the intussusception due to Peutz-Jeghers syndrome. In conclusion: 1) early postoperative small bowel mechanical obstruction in the mechanism of intussusception is a rare disease; 2) it appears advisable to remove any polyp bigger than 1.5 cm while performing an operation on the intestine; 3) we should take into consideration Peutz-Jeghers syndrome in any patients with phenotypic features of mucocutaneous melanin deposition, lentigo and recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding.",
