title="A patient with oesophagoduodenal anastomosis after total gastrectomy for gastric cancer – 22-year follow-up",
abstract="Gastric cancer is diagnosed in nearly 95% of patients with gastric tumours. There are almost 5246 new cases of gastric cancer recognized every year in Poland. The only proven effective therapy is surgery, which can be combined with chemotherapy or radiotherapy. More than 70 types of reconstructive procedures after total gastrectomy have been tried. We would like to report a case of a patient who was operated on because of gastric cancer in 1989 in the 2nd Department of General and Gastroenterological Surgery. During the operation, total gastrectomy with local lymphadenectomy and “end to end” oesophagoduodenal anastomosis were performed. The situations in which such an anastomosis can be made are very rare. There are only a few reports in the literature about such a situation. In this report we would like to present 20-year clinical observation after gastric cancer.",
