title="Thyroid disorders in pregnant women and their influence on foetal and newborn development \– a common problem for obstetricians and pediatricians",
abstract="Thyroid problems are five times more likely to occur in women than in men. They usually appear in adulthood. Disorders of the thyroid function during pregnancy might cause abnormalities in the mother as well as in the neonate and infant. This study is aimed to present potential problems in diagnostic evaluation and treatment of thyroid disorders in pregnant women, and the influence of the above on foetal and newborn development. An endocrinologist should assess children of mothers with thyroid disorders, better yet a pediatrician endocrinologist. An appropriate diagnosis and introduction of adequate treatment could prevent any developmental abnormalities in those children. This approach is designed to improve their health and insure normal development.",
