title="The use of totally implantable port-a-cath – indications, service, care and complications",
abstract="Implantable vascular access devices (ports) are well accepted in the management of many clinical conditions such as: chemiotherapy, infusion of hyperosmolar or hypertonic liquids, renal dialysis, catocholamines, hemodynamic monitoring, fluids replacement, parenteral nutrition, electrolytes replacemnent, as well as the capability for routine blood drawing. The way of servicing the port in the significant measure influences for the duration of its functioning. Doctors performing implantation, should be familiar with all techniques of veins caniulation, since anatomical conditions often dictate choice of the best access. The most frequently observed complications are: haematoma, mispositioning of the catheter, the partial or total blockage of the catheter due to thrombosis, skin and the soft tissue infections. We discussed basic problems which come across during using ports, complications and methods of proceedings.",
