title="The opinion of nurses and midwifes about transplantation",
abstract=" Introduction:   Transplantation of human organs is one of the most important and effective methods of treatment for certain diseases. The biggest problem with this method is access to adequate quantities of organs, because the number of people who need this form of treatment is still increasing. Aim of the study: To understand the attitudes and opinions of nurses and midwives towards organ transplantation.   Material and methods:   The study included 240 nurses and midwives from Podbeskidzie. A diagnostic survey method was applied in the research, using the author’s questionnaire.   Results:   Ninety-eight percent of respondents accepted transplantation as a form of treatment (deceased or living donor) and 88% declared a willingness to be a donor. Consent to donate organs of a deceased close relative was declared by 72.5%. Half of the respondents believed that death occurs only when the brain ceases to work and the heart stops beating.   Conclusions : Nurses and midwives have a positive attitude to transplantation. However, their opinions regarding the point of death are divided, as is the reason for opposition organ donation. Consequently, promotional campaigns should be started in environments that are directly related to the care of organs donor and recipients.",
