title="Correlates of mental adaptation to disease as an indicator of the quality of life in patients with lung cancer",
abstract="The mental ability of quick adaptation to lung cancer and dealing with the side-effects of chemotherapy have high impact on the assessment of the quality of patient’s life. Mental adaptation of disease depends on many factors, including the style of coping with stress and the level of perceived fatigue.   The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between the style of coping with stress and feeling fatigue and mental adaptation to cancer. The study included 36 patients of hospital oncology department diagnosed with parvicellular lung cancer and treated with chemotherapy there.  The study showed that there is a relationship between destructive strategies of coping with lung cancer and feeling fatigue and emotional and avoidance styles where the last one manifests in the form of engagement in substitute activities. Use of the target-focused style reduces a sense of helplessness patients feel.",
