title="To crush or not to crush? – that is the question. Pharmacotherapy through enteral feeding access",
abstract="There is an large group of patients that are treated in both hospital and home, who for whatever reason of hospitalization, concomitant diseases or general condition, have problems swallowing medicines in solid forms, or require the use of non-standard doses of pharmaceuticals. At the same time there should be noted a fact of shortage of liquid form of these drugs and the lack of medicinal products on the market that could be administrated through gastrostomy/jejunostomy, directly do the proper sections of the gastrointestinal tract. Due to the fact that the most common form of administered drugs are in solid, oral form it should be considered whether they can be crushed before use. The use of pharmaceuticals directly into the digestive tract must be accompanied by the belief in the existence of absolute benefit for the patient.",
