title="Influence of tumor necrosis factor-\αgen polymorphisms on susceptibility to, and severity of rheumatoid arthritis",
abstract="Review of clinical data of European, Taiwan and Chilean population based on publications was done. Until now a total of nine single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) were identified. One of which is located in the first introne at position +489, one at position +70 in the 5\’ untranslated region (UTR) and seven in the 5\’ regulatory region, a region involved in the regulation of TNF gene transcription at position -163G/A, -238G/A, -244G/A, -308G/A, -376G/A, -857C/T, -863C/A. The polymorphisms at position -238, -376, -308 and +489 were studied with particular attention. The polymorphisms at position -238 and -376 were found to be in strong linkage disequilibrium. In presented data no associations between the TNF-\α gen polymorphisms and susceptibility to, or severity of, RA could be demonstrated in tested populations.",
