According to World Health Organization (WHO) forecasts, diabetes is a disease developing in a dynamic rate, which carries an increased risk of late complications, both macro and microvascular and premature mortality. That is why not to be underestimated is the fact a reliable identification of factors of the disease, monitoring its progress and current patient education. Aim of the study. Assessment of the level of patients\’ knowledge on late complications and educational activities. Material and methods. The study was conducted at The Medical Centre in Lodz. The study group comprised 100 people. The study used a questionnaire that was designed specifically for research. The results obtained were analyzed using Pearson\’s \χ 2 test. Depending strength were examined using Pearson\’s factor of contingency. Results and conclusions. Majority people in the study group (80%) had late complications. About the possibility of complications knows 90% of respondents. It has recognized a small correlation p < 0.05 in the responses between men and women. However most respondents do not have appropriate knowledge about the frequency of occurrence of the disease complications.
