title="Gastroesophageal reflux disease – diagnosis and treatment in a general practitioner’s office",
abstract="Gastroesophageal reflux disease is still one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders, posing a problem not only for primary care physicians but also for specialists. The introduction of proton pump inhibitors has significantly improved the effectiveness of treatment, but still in some patients we do not achieve the expected results. In the latest recommendations on the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease for primary care physicians, it is recommended in this group of patients that new-generation prokinetics be added to the basic therapy, which causally regulates oesophageal motility disorders. Preparations having a protective effect on the oesophagus mucosa and neutralising were also included. Combined therapy brings the best results, enabling dose reduction, bringing faster relief of symptoms, and shortening the duration of treatment, which is an alternative to chronic use of drugs.",
