abstract="In 2016, the Rome IV diagnostic criteria were announced, being the latest update of the diagnostic criteria for functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs), determined in accordance with the new definition of disorders of intestine-brain interaction. In connection with the growing role of intestinal microbiota in the pathogenesis of numerous gastrointestinal diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome, it has also become necessary to update the Polish recommendations prepared by the Polish Society of Gastroenterology. The article presents the latest guidelines for the treatment of selected gastrointestinal diseases with rifaximin alpha restoring intestinal eubiosis.",
