abstract="The creation of an intestinal stoma remains an integral part of many surgical procedures, performed mainly in colorectal cancer treatment. The appropriate surgical technique and the placing of a stoma in the correct anatomical area increase the chance of therapeutic effects and good quality of life. However, the occurrence of skin lesions around the stoma is relatively frequent. Such lesions can occur for mechanical, chemical, allergic, infectious, or genetic reasons. They require immediate diagnosis and implementation of an appropriate treatment plan of the underlying disease. It is particularly important to select appropriate and non-standard stoma devices and to take controlled care and self-care over a stoma.  The article provides a comprehensive description of the observed diseases and skin lesions around an intestinal stoma included in clinical classification and presentation. Based on the review of contemporary literature, the presented solutions concerning treatment, care, and prevention of such problems.",
