Hippocrates (c. 460–c. 377 BC), Greek physician, one of the precursors of modern medicine (author of Corpus Hippocraticum), known as the father of medicine.  2nd century A.D.  Galen – Claudius Galenus (129–200 A.D.), Roman doctor of Greek origin, anatomist, philosopher, talented researcher, and writer, one of the most outstanding ancient doctors. He described, among other things, the heart valves and the differences between the arteries and veins. He established that blood flowed through the arteries and veins, not air, as previously thought.",
