title="Urinary tract infections in palliative care",
abstract="Urinary tract infections are among the most common infectious diseases. Palliative care patients have an increased risk of this disease. Symptoms of the infection can be bothersome, and they can significantly impact the patients’ quality of life. The clinical manifestation can be varied. Complicated infections predominate. A medical interview, physical examination, and additional tests are necessary for diagnosis. Urine culture is the gold standard. The mainstay of treatment is the removal of modifiable factors and targeted antibiotic therapy. Sixty to ninety per cent of patients with advanced cancer will get relief from urinary tract infection symptoms after treatment. In every case, the potential benefits and risks of antimicrobial therapy should be considered.",
