title="Treatment of treatment-resistant neuropathic pain in a patient with malignant peripheral nerve sheath tomour of the cauda equina",
abstract="We present a case of a patient with MPNST of the cauda equina with treatment-resistant neuropathic pain in which multiple drug rotations and interventional methods of pain treatment were used. Difficult to control pain was the reason for referral of the patient to the care of the Pain Treatment and Palliative Medicine Clinic. The patient was treated with surgical methods of pain treatment and a rotation of analgesics, as well as psychological and physiotherapeutic support. The interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of the patient led to good pain control and a significant improvement in the quality of life. Concurrently, the patient underwent oncological treatment. The multidisciplinary approach increased the patient’s lifespan, despite the unfavourable prognosis of this sarcoma subtype and its location, and it allowed an increase in self-service of basic life functions. The patient is currently in a stable condition, without recurrence of cancer, and she is under the care of a home hospice and the Pain Treatment and Pain Medicine Clinic and the NIO-PIB Oncology Clinic in Warsaw.",
