abstract="The article presents the case of a 71-year-old patient with a tongue tumour that was originally diagnosed as papillomatosis of the tongue, in the final diagnosis as a verrucous squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. The patient was being diagnosed for 5 years because of a papillary tongue tumor. The paper discusses the general characteristics of squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue, including a rare variant of verrucous carcinoma, risk factors for this cancer, differential diagnosis of tongue tumors of this morphology and the latest recommendations for the diagnosis and therapy of tongue cancer.",
