title="Local thrombotic complications of endovenous ablation: ablation-related thrombus extension",
abstract="The previously used term endovenous heat-induced thrombosis (EHIT), which refers to thrombosis at the junction of the treated vein when using thermal methods, is being replaced by the broader and more general concept of ablation-related thrombus extension (ARTE). This term encompasses both thermal and non-thermal methods. The course of this condition is significantly milder than typical thrombosis; however, it may still lead to deep vein thrombosis and, under certain conditions, even pulmonary embolism.",
