abstract="Diseases of the small bowel are often difficult to diagnose and intraopertive enteroscopy until now was only the way for therapeutic endoscopic interventions. The new method \– double balloon enteroscopy allows complete diagnosis and endoscopic treatment in the small bowel. Fujinon 200-cm enteroscope is equipped with overtube. By inflating and deflating in special way two balloons on the overtube and on the tip of endoscope, enteroscope can be inserted avoiding loops deep into the small intestine by anterograde or retrograde approach. Double balloon enteroscopy allows endoscopic therapy \– hemostasis with argon plasma coagulation or injection methods, polypectomy, mucosal resection, dilation of stenoses or ERCP in Roux-en-Y loop. In summary double balloon enteroscopy is a safe and universal procedure that allows diagnosis and the endoscopic therapy of the small bowel diseases.",
