abstract="The publication presents the clinical picture, diagnostic procedures and treatment of large vessel vasculitides and polymyalgia rheumatica, the last not being a type of vasculitis per se, but a common inflammatory connective tissue disease, often accompanying giant cell arteritis. The knowledge on these diseases results in shortening of diagnostic period, which promotes quicker amelioration of patient\’s condition and prevents from irreversible vascular damage.",
